The Flood of 1972

The flood of 1972 changed the look of Blossburg. As you can see the destruction of homes and property. Picture 1 is the bridge on old rt 15. Picture 2 are homes that were torn down. Picture 3 is the bridge that went to the old hospital, you can see the Gulf gas station, which is still in business. Picture 4 is the Tioga River in Blossburg. Picture 5 is Mayor Boinski and the County Commissioners looking over the damage. Notice behind them is Gulick Street. I lived in the trailer park near House Lumber Company. Our family had to leave everything behind to get to higher ground. I still recall that dark muddy water as we fought our way to a safer place.
